Microlink Race Team

It has been an exceptional year for Southampton Company Microlink PC, Europe’s largest multi award winning organisation that supports individuals in education and corporate sectors. After winning the ‘Disability Champion, Diversity & Equality Awards’; in 2013 they started a joint venture ‘Race4Inclusivity’ with local sports community ThunderCat Racing UK to empower the lives of others not only on land but sea. ThunderCat Racing, an extreme grass root global series adheres itself more to the Iron Man Triathlon than the elitist sport of powerboat racing.
With Microlink’s continuing support, ThunderCat’s have given individuals and the community, opportunity’s to participate on land and within competition. The RYA National ThunderCat Racing Championship has led to a vibrant GB Team taking part in the recent UIM P750 World Championships that was staged in Cornwall. The results paid dividends and the GB Teams won Bronze, Silver and Gold medals competing against nine countries.
James Tapp states “It is wonderful to aspire to someone like Vee Ganjavian (MD of Microlink) who is a fantastic role model; he has shown us that with drive, determination and commitment you can win whatever you set out to achieve – everyone can be a winner in life!” Vee has had an exceptional powerboat racing career himself with a list of accolades including World, European and National Championships “It’s all about having the right team behind you and being part of that team. We conquered the European coastline and now about to leave for the Florida shores of Key West to enter into the Super Boat World Championships” explains Vee Ganjavian. 3rd – 10th November www.superboat.com/2013-key-west-schedule

Southampton based, Vahid (Vee) Ganjavian, a successful entrepreneur and Director of Microlink PC Ltd has raced bikes, cars and powerboats since a young age; winning numerous titles and world speed records.  Vee is passionate for the sport and has been a sponsor for over 8 years of ThunderCat Racing, giving youth an opportunity to taste racing at a grass root level. Vee being the owner and Driver of the Phantom Microlink Raceboat, secured his Powerboat P1 racing partner and winning combination Gareth Williams to be his throttleman for the 2013 British Marathon series, the Needles Trophy race, Cowes Torquay Cowes and Marathon World Cup.

The Dynamic duos are both excited “Our program starts in the midst of winter by re-rigging the boat after the previous year’s season. Will Smith the owner, designer and builder of Phantom Powerboats in America inspects the boat’s structure, making sure it is as he requires and any alterations and tweaks that may assist with furthering the boats performance is undertaken.  By April the boat is back in the water ready for the rigid test program and in earnest for the first race of the season at the end of May” says Vee.

Gareth, alongside his Mother Gill Williams, is a Director of Drivers Dry Berthing Ltd a boatyard based in Southampton, Hampshire which boasts secure workshops, storage and craneage amenities. Many of the UK's Marathon offshore teams can be seen testing using the excellent facilities and is the reason why Vee now bases 'his passion for racing' housing his new workshop for the Phantom ‘Fury’ race team from this establishment.  "I am very excited to be given the opportunity to race again with Vee as part of the Fury team in the Round Ireland Powerboat race," says Gareth.  "I am looking forward to being back in a competitive boat in race conditions and expect this will be a very successful season for us." Vee and Gareth use the Solent waters for testing, using the Isle of Wight as a circuit to monitor fuel consumption and varied sea conditions, with their usual true grit and determination they’re sure to give 110% to succeed and at the same time it will be an excellent test bed to start the 2011 season.
